Sensational Foundation & HER Fund - Gender Inclusive Accessibility Guide for Disability Inclusion and Neurodiversity

Date:

About the Project

Sensational Foundation, as a grantee partner of HER Fund, is developing a Gender-Inclusive Guide on Neurodiversity and Accessibility for Hong Kong. The guide will provide practical recommendations for organisations — including workplaces, schools, public services, and NGOs — to become more accessible and inclusive for people of all genders with disabilities and neurodivergent conditions.

The guide draws on international frameworks like the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and existing best practices, while grounding recommendations in lived experiences of people in Hong Kong. We believe meaningful change requires the voices of those most affected.

What Participation Involves

We are inviting individuals to participate in either:

Format

Duration

Details

Individual Interview

45-60 minutes

One-on-one conversation (in-person or virtual) about your experiences with accessibility, gender, and inclusion in Hong Kong.

Focus Group Discussion

75-90 minutes

Small group conversation (6-8 participants) facilitated by our team.

Participation is voluntary and confidential. No names or identifying details will be used in any reports. You may skip any question or stop at any time.

Who can participate

  1. You are 18 years of age or older.
  2. You live/have lived with a disability (Disability, as defined by the World Health Organization, is not just a health condition — it arises when barriers in the environment prevent full participation. This includes physical, sensory, neurodivergent, and psychosocial experiences.).

Why Your Voice Matters

Conversations about disability and gender often happen in silos. Accessibility is discussed separately from gender inclusion, and neurodivergence is often overlooked entirely. This guide aims to bridge those gaps.

Hong Kong is at a critical juncture to spearhead this conversation. With increasing awareness of neurodiversity and disability inclusion, there is an urgent need for practical, evidence-based guidance that centres lived experience. Your insights will directly inform the guide's recommendations.
