"Cross All Borders" Presents Series: Open Audition for Soloists & Call for Scores

The Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADAHK) welcomes musicians and composers with disabilities to apply for the upcoming “Cross All Borders” Presents Series. Selected soloists will perform a concerto or concertante work accompanied by a professional Western symphony orchestra, while selected composers will have their original orchestral works premiered on stage. Both selected soloists and composers will receive an artist performance fee alongside professional, live audiovisual recordings for archival and promotional use.

Program

Details

Category (1): Open Audition for Soloists

Concert Date: Tentatively July 2027
Instrument Categories: Open to all instruments (including Western and Chinese instruments, keyboard, percussion, and vocals).
Repertoire: A complete concerto, or an independent orchestral work featuring a solo instrument/voice (e.g., rhapsody, fantasy, variations, or works of comparable scale). For Chinese instrumental works, applicants must ensure that full scores and parts for a Western symphony orchestra are available.

Category (2): Call for Scores

Concert Date: Tentatively July 2027
Forms: Single-movement or continuous through-composed orchestral work.
Duration: 5 to 15 minutes

Eligibility

General Eligibility

Applicants must be persons with disabilities who hold valid Hong Kong Identity Cards. Individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN) are also welcome to apply.

Specific Requirements

Open Audition for Soloists: Applicants must possess outstanding performance proficiency in instrumental music or vocal performance.
Call for Scores: Applicants must possess experience in musical composition or creative music practice.

Selection Process

All eligible applicants will undergo professional selection by the Adjudication Panel.
Preliminary Selection: Based on the submitted performance video recordings to select shortlisted candidates.
Interview & Live Audition: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an in-person interview and live audition (tentatively January 11–15, 2027).
Results: Successful applicants will be notified individually via email.

Call for Scores

Due Date:11:59 PM (HKT), 8 January 2027 (Friday)

Selection Process

All eligible applicants will undergo professional selection by the Adjudication Panel. Successful applicants will be notified individually via email.
